Updated: 11 March 2010
Revision A0
Limited release: 21 February 2006
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850
VPW; and K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
This board does not have JP2 jumper for the K-line signal.
Pull down resistors (24.9 K ohm) were hand installed for the
ADC inputs across the TVS diodes.
This board has an incorrect crystal configuration that was
corrected by hand modification.
Prototype.
Quantity built: 4.
Revision A1
Limited release: 5 April 2006
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850
VPW; and K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
Corrected the crystal circuit and other minor changes to board
layout.
Prototype.
Quantity built: none.
Revision A2
Limited release: 18 May 2006
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850
VPW; and K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
Added jumper JP2 for the K-line signal.
Pull down resistors (24.9 K ohm) were hand installed for the
ADC inputs across the TVS diodes.
Initial production layout.
Quantity built: 8.
Revision A3
Production release: June 2006
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850
VPW; and K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
Changed the layout to add pull down resistors (24.9 K ohm) to
the ADC inputs.
Production layout.
Quantity built (to date): 250.
Revision A4
Production release: 26 September 2006
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850
VPW; and K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
Changed 2-wire CAN termination to Ford configuration.
Performed on request only.
Revision A5
Limited release: 9 February 2007
(Decommissioned ~17 April 2007)
Low cost multiple interface supporting: CAN-C; SWC; J1850 VPW; and
K-line networks.
Communication to host computer: RS-232 serial.
Modified a production AVT-841 as a prototype AVT-843.
Quantity built/modified: 1
Revision A6
General release: ~17 April 2007
Connect U1 pin #64 (PortA7) to U7 pin #2 (SCI1 TXD, PortS3).
This modification is only needed for KWP init functions and LIN mode.
Revision A7
General release: 14 June 2007
For revision "A" boards.
Modify the 2-wire CAN termination scheme to be Ford compliant.
Remove: R16, R17, R18. C25 can be removed or left in-place.
Install: R14, R15 (100 ohm); C20, C21 (470 pF); C22, C23 (100 pF).
Revision A8
General release: 17 July 2007
Remove R24; passive pull-up on K-line. This makes the passive
pull-up on the K-line compatible for LIN operations.
Revision B1
General release: ~ March 2009
Incorporated corrections from revision "A" board (flip operational LED,
wire for K-line control). Added mounting holes in the four corners.
Revision C
General release: 24 July 2009
Change the 2-wire CAN termination to the "Ford" configuration.
Remove: R18 and R16.
Install: R14 and R15 - 100 ohm.
Install: C20 and C21 - 470 pF.
Install: C22 and C23 - 100 pF.
Revision S
General release: 23 June 2009
Available for installation on any board, only upon specific customer
request. Most useful for customers that need to support CAN bus baud rate
of 1 Mbaud.
Remove 4 MHz external resonator (Y1) and replace it with an 8 MHz resonator
(AWSCR-8.00MGD-T).
Install a wire from U1 pin #109 (PortK bit 7) to ground (nearest is C3
terminal furthest away from U1).
Revision T
General release: ~August 2008
Modification to change CAN4 channel from Single Wire CAN (SWC) to dual
wire CAN.
Remove SWC transceiver U6.
Install AVT-84x "T" board on top of U4 using both pins of JP3 for mounting.
Install wires from the AVT-84x "T" board to the respective locations on
the main AVT-84x board.
Notice
Updated: 11 March 2010
AVT-84x units shipped with an OBD-II cable will have the shunts configured
as follows:
JP1 - single wire CAN - installed
JP2 - K-line (KWP, LIN, and other protocols) - removed
JP3 - J1850 VPW (Class2) - installed
AVT-84x units shipped without an OBD-II cable will have all shunts installed.
